Parable of the Square Foot Garden
There once was a gardener who decided to change the way to plant his garden for the next season. This gardener had heard that square foot gardening was an excellent way to grow lots of produce in a small amount of space.
So after taking a class and learning all about the method of making the boxes and adding the right mixture of soils and then adding slats of wood to measure off the square feet, the gardener planned out the exact plants that would grow well next to each other.
All was ready. All the information was procured. All the plans were finished. The time for planting had arrived. The thoughts and dreams of a beautiful garden were present.
However, the gardener put off the construction of the boxes for a brighter day and when the boxes weren't done there was really no reason to get the soil prepared. The seeds and plants were still at the nursery.
The square foot garden was such a great idea! Without the follow through--the active doing, the garden would not and did not grow!
The same thing is true with any project or goal.
It is also true of our desire to have mental, emotional and physical health. We can learn from our doctor or therapist or from a class such as the Neil Nedley class.
We can grow into a healthy person--we have the facts and the researched based plans!
Now we just do what we can each day and week to follow through!
